Winter Storm Leon

I guess I spoke too soon about the girls being disappointed by the lack of snow earlier this month.  Winter Storm Leon came way too fast and in less than three hours, Atlanta was at a standstill.  Lucky for us, we were safe and sound at home and Paul even got to stay at home to enjoy the snow since the ZBB tour dates were postponed.  You know it is bad when these concerts get postponed…these guys travel in some pretty rough conditions!

School was dismissed at 12:15 on Tuesday and snow was already starting to stick when Railey got off the school bus.  That afternoon, the kids had snowball fights, went sledding and made snow angels.

The next morning Railey was ready to go!  She left the house at 8:30 and only came in for 20 minutes around lunchtime to eat.  I can't figure out if she wanted to play in the snow or avoid me trying to make her do homework.  Even my homebody Maysie only took a two hour break to warm up!  Annie ventured out into the snow, at least for a little bit, and she looks even cuter in these snow pictures!

While we were safe and sound at home, it was an absolute mess on the roads.  We live right off Johnson Ferry and this was on TV.  Friends were having to abandon their cars and walk home…it really was horrible.

Around 4:00, the husbands all decided that a bonfire was in order.  But I have been a bit preoccupied and forgot to order more wood.  The guys decided to channel their inner redneck and figured out the perfect solution…burn furniture, cabinets and anything else around the house that we don't want anymore.

Let's just say that I was inside when Paul decided to bring out the fireworks.

More Ansley...

Ansley has had so many of our sweet friends come over and visit…and I have continued the streak of bring horrible about taking pictures.  I did manage a few moments of clarity and got shots of Mandy, Kaly and the Riveras.

Big sisters continue to be so excited to have Ansley home.

Bathtime was a huge success with Railey and Sara Mays, but Ansley had mixed feelings about it.

And I just had to include these pictures of Annie's visitors too…Winnie and Penny.  They are all the same size (for now) and played non-stop for two hours.

Whew…now I am officially caught up on the blog!

100th Day of First Grade

To celebrate the 100th day of school, we decided to invite Colette and Ellie over to decorate shirts.

Apparently, my girls are done with pictures and have resorted to funny faces and, in Maysie's case, hiding.  Lucky for me, Colette and Ellie are still willing participants:)

My day was made when I got this email from Railey's teacher.  I am going to need counseling when Railey has to leave her class….

Shea,

We had a great time with the nail kit and the 100th day!  attached are pictures of the boys doing Railey’s nails. Too PRECIOUS ! She is such a GEM!

Thanks and Smiles,
Meredith

Railey knows how to pick the best toys to share with the class!

Sweet Annie

With all of the commotion of the holidays, bedrest and a new baby, I realized that I really never properly introduced Annie, our new golden retriever.  While I realize that it seems completely ridiculous to get a new puppy one month before the new baby arrived, the timing seemed perfect to us considering what we had been through in 2013 losing all three of our animals.

When we decided to get a Christmas puppy, I immediately started thinking of names.  When I mentioned Annie, Paul turned up his nose.  His response was, "do you realize that is the name of our current single (Sweet Annie)?"  I hadn't even thought about it but still loved the name.  I guess it grew on him too…or either he got tired of me bothering him to come up with something else.

Anyways, I haven't taken nearly enough pictures of our sweet puppy, who is extremely well behaved.  She still has the occasional accident inside but since we have pulled the den rug up, it is easy cleanup!

Maysie's First Haircut

Friday morning, I made a quick decision that it was time for Maysie to follow in her big sisters footsteps and donate her hair.  This was her first haircut because I wanted it to be at least eight inches so we could donate it to Pantene just like Railey did.  Also, with baby Ansley here, it is time to simplify and combing through the tangles and dealing with tears each night just wasn't on the agenda.

Railey was so helpful and decided to get her hair cut too for moral support.  Such a sweet big sister!
