Sope Creek Boosterthon

It turns out that the Boosterthon was a much bigger deal than I was expecting.  Over $77,000 was raised for Sope Creek Elementary and it was QUITE the production.

Each class was introduced and ran through a tunnel to their screaming families.  I tried my best to capture the moment when Railey ran out, but didn't pack the right lens.  Baby steps....at least I remembered my camera.

Railey in action with one of her teachers, Ms. Gunning, behind her
Saying Railey was excited was an understatement.  Each time she came around the track, in total 35 times, she had the biggest smile.  She even stopped one time to give her sister a hug...and this is not typical of their relationship lately:)

About 3/4 of the way through the event, Railey found Colette.

The Blackland Ridge crew brought their own cheering section.

But about two minutes into the event, baby dolls, cup crushing and ring around the posey became the focus of their attention

Railey finished the race with a smile on her face!

And then, a victory lap with the families.  She was excited to take her little sis around the track.

Jack's Butterfly Bonanza

Jack's Butterfly Bonanza is an event that is coordinated by my dear friend April Gardner who lost her brother to brain cancer.  While I didn't know Jack personally, with the exception of a brief period of time that I visited him in the hospital, he touched so many lives and was, and continues to be, an inspiration to everyone who came in contact with him.

Every last detail was covered for the weekend, from the moment we checked in until Emerson Hart and Sister Hazel left the stage.

The weekend was surreal on so many differnet levels for me.  Surreal that a child can be taken away from his parents, family and friends entirely too soon and the composure of the Gardner family each time I am around them.

Surreal at how much these precious kids that I haven't seen in a while have grown up.

Trane - 3 months old
Trane - Six years old
Quinn

Carter and Daddy
Hayden

Surreal that so much time had passed since I had seen some of my friends who are nearest and dearest to me.  But some things never change, and we all fell right into the same conversations and same fun we had the last time we were all together.

Until next year!

Pampered Princesses

I decided a mini spa day was in order for the girls since they have done such a great job the first two weeks of school.  Plus, they had a tough weekend of swimming, birthday parties and playing.

Finished product!

Maysie Goes to Pre-K

Little Miss Maysie bounced into her first day of PreK like it was nothing.  No crying, no looking back, no hesitation.  That's our girl!

First Day of Kindergarten

7:07.  Last year, this was about the time that the Chanon family usually rolled out of bed in the morning.

It turns out that the Cobb County Public School System didn't get the memo about our sleep schedules.  Today, on Railey's first day of Kindergarten, 7:07 was the time that the school bus rolled up to the corner of our street to pick her up.

Railey was all smiles and VERY excited.  We woke up and quickly brushed teeth, got dressed and fixed her hair then headed down to the bus stop for donuts and juice with the rest of the neighbors.  As you will notice from the pictures, when we got there it was barely light outside.

Little sister was there for moral support

Colette and Railey have started referring to each other as sisters.

No tears from Mama, Daddy OR Railey!  At least I hope not since after this picture was taken I couldn't see where she ended up on the bus:)

Shooting the Hooch

The day before school started, we loaded up Railey to Shoot the Hooch for Jimmy's birthday.  It was the perfect end to our first full Summer in East Cobb.

Railey and Grace were excited to leave their little sisters behind and spend some quality time with mommy and daddy.

Luckily, we had our fearless leader Hop to lead the way down the Chattahoochee...shouting "SHOOT IT" the entire way down.

Railey bounced from the tubes to the boat the entire time.  She "babysat" Tbird...

and was official drink holder for Sumry

We are so lucky so have such an amazing group of friends!  Next stop...Kindergarten!
