Things I Need to do Before the Baby Comes

Today, I realized that in 4 1/2 months the new baby will be here. Although I have given up hope of finishing Railey's baby book, there are some things that I HAVE to get done before then.

1) Finish dresser for Railey so baby #2 can use her old one with the changing table

2) Finish attic bathroom

3) Move our bedroom upstairs

4) Decide who is going to use our old bedroom, Railey or new baby

Enough of enjoying the pregnancy....it is time for me to get to work!!

On a funnier note, today when I was lifting Railey into my car, she said, "mommy, you hurt my underpips!" I guess that when I lifted her I hurt under her arms, which she thinks are her pips (Paul told her they were called armpits)

Now that I am 21 weeks, baby girl #2 (yes it is a girl...yay!) has been kicking like crazy. I can feel her kicking here and there throughout the day but she typically goes crazy just about the time I get off of work and sit down to play with Railey.

Today, I decided to see if Railey had the patience to put her hand on my stomach and wait for the baby to kick. Her face was priceless...she got the biggest smile and just asked me, "The baby can come out mommy," to which I said not yet, she needs to stay in my tummy a little bit longer.

Surprisingly, she didn't have anything to say about that...which is very unlike Railey. After about a minute she said, "you want to feel the baby in my tummy?"

Of course I felt the "baby" in her tummy but will definitely let Paul answer her questions when she asks why mommy had a real baby and she didn't!

Baby on Board

How long should someone wait to tell everyone they are pregnant?? Besides close friends, Paul and I decided to keep the news quiet until 12 weeks. By the time that came, I just didn't have the energy to tell everyone. Email and Facebook seemed so impersonal and there is no way that I could even begin to call everyone that should know. So today, I finally decided to "tell the world" (akapost on Facebook) that I am pregnant. It only took 20 weeks, but when the cashier at Subway asked when I was due, I decided that it was time to let everyone know our good news.

It's a girl which I am so excited about. I really didn't think that I cared either way and OF COURSE my first choice is a healthy baby (I used to hate it when people said that but now I completely understand) . The more I think about how special it will be for Railey to have a sister the more excited I get for June 3rd to get here.

Railey doesn't quite understand what it means..nor will she until her mommy and daddy time is shared with another child. But, she does understand that:

  • She also has a baby in her tummy
  • Everything that mommy and Railey eat feeds the babies that are in their tummy
  • Her baby is named Ella (after her cousin)

A New Year

I have tried unsuccessfullly over the past couple of years to blog about our sweet little girl Railey (chanonfamily.blogspot.com) and one of my MANY New Year's resolutions this year is to start blogging on a regular basis.

2 1/2 years ago, I never would have believed that it would be so easy to forget about all of the cute things that Railey was doing and I am now quickly realizing that if I don't put it down on paper, I will forget that she calls her armpits, "pips" or thinks that hiccups are called "pickups." How I love putting her to bed a night not so I can have a free moment, but because it is hilarious to hear her read books to her baby dolls and say almost WORD FOR WORD what I said to her 20 minutes earlier. Well, also so I can have a free moment:)

Things are changing so much around here and I know that when Railey's little sister or brother arrives in June, I won't know what to do with myself.

Today we went to a birthday party for Railey's best friend, Sadie. I am finally breathing a bit easier when we take Railey out and about and today she was an absolute angel. Just in time. 2010 is going to be a great year:)
