Oh Maysie

Saturday was shaping up to be a pretty good day.  Paul was playing with the girls outside, I was decorating the house and planned on going to Target to get a few last minute things for a football viewing party.

Maysie had other plans though.

Paul came running into the house, Maysie in his arms and blood pouring from her chin.  She had decided that she wanted to ride her tricycle down the driveway and flipped forward.  Once we finally convinced her to look up so we could get a better look, we were in the car within 2 minutes to go to Urgent Care.

In true Maysie style, not one tear was shed on the trip.  I, on the other hand, felt like crying when Urgent Care told us that we needed to go to the hospital because they saw a bump on her head and were worried about a possible head injury.  A lady that was also in the waiting room ran out to catch me at my car and told me about a Childrens Healthcare Urgent Care 15 minutes away.

Three hours, five stitches and one wet pair of pants later, we were on our way home.

Lunch consisted of animal crackers, Sprite and Cheetos...Mom of the Year

Wearing her hospital gown with only one Ugg on because this potty training mama forgot extra clothes.
Thank you to everyone who called to check on me.  My favorite voicemail had to be from Jen, who called to check on Maysie and then said, "I can't help but wonder what it would have been like if you had boys."

So true.....

Uncle Dave

I couldn't help but post this email I got from my sister in law....this one just HAD to be printed in the blog book...  For those of you who want to support his cause, click on the link below.  Movember raises money for men's health issues.

Can you please donate $10 to your DISGUSTING brother-in-laws cause?  I need full family support to get through this month.   Latest pics attached.  We had Ella’s recital today at school and I made him sit in the back row of the church.  We have a charity event on Saturday and I uninvited him…. seriously… I’m going alone to a black tie affair.  It’s THAT bad…

Potty Training 101

After six months of putting it off the inevitable, I finally decided to pull the trigger and potty train Maysie.  How quickly I forgot how much my world would revolve around how many feet I was away from Maysie and/or the closest bathroom.

Day 1: Catastrophe.  I had a feeling it would be so I decided to make it a half day...starting right after Maysie's nap.  She woke up, I gave her the pep talk and a thick pair of panties, and she went in the potty.  I was excited to say the least.  We ventured out to the culdesac....had three accidents in a matter of 45 minutes (2 of them ACCIDENTS if you know what I mean).  Needless to say, I needed a pep talk from Ansley and she reminded me that this was normal, so I decided to stick with it for one more day.

Day 2:  Amazing!  Maysie only had one accident.  Could it be?

Day 3: I HATE POTTY TRAINING.  About six accidents today.  Two of them at a birthday party.

Day 4: Our nanny, Kaly, came over and got everything back on track.  Only one accident today (on my watch)  I'll take it.

Day 5: On my own again since it is election day.  Maysie won't let me out of her sight so I either have to take my potty training child to the polls or accept the fact that I won't be casting a ballot this year.  The bad news, no voting for me today.....the good news, only one accident...

Day 6: Kaly came again today...only one accident!

Day 7: Today was Maysie's first day at school without a diaper.  No accidents...yay!  By the end of the day I was hopeful that we would go the entire day without an accident.  At 7:00, only 30 minutes before bedtime, she had an accident.  Still happy though:)

For those of you who were able to potty train your kids in three days, wow.  But I am pretty darn impressed with my little Maysie and I am so excited that we are coming to the end of the diaper stage!

Railey on the Road

This past weekend, Railey finally got her chance to ride with Daddy on the tour bus to a show.  It may have only been in Fayetteville, GA, but she still got the experience she has been waiting for!  I am very proud of Paul for taking a few pictures for me:)

Trick or Treat

Rapunzel bride and Tinkerbell were so excited to go trick or treating this year.  Before we loaded up the truck to go to the neighborhood party, I remembered to take a picture.  Is it just me, or has Maysie grown up overnight?!?

The Hopkins and DeMartinis came to meet us and I just couldn't resist to get Railey's picture taken with Belle and the Beast!

And no party would be complete without a picture of Railey and Buie!

Capri Sun in one hand, beer in the other.  That's how the Beast rolls.
After eating dinner and watching the kids play, it was time to go trick or treating!   Oh Maysie, whenever someone would answer the door, she would run in the house to play.

To top it all off, Colette showed up right when we started trick or treating so Railey got to spend time with her other "sister!"

What a difference a year makes 2011...not so much with the costume choice but with how much the girls have grown up in one short year!  Happy Halloween!
